Bed with blue and white stripped bedding and white frame in a well-lit room with white furniture

If you’ve been reading our blog for long, you now know that there are many different kinds of mattresses. You can buy a new mattress based on the size and brand, of course, but also the materials inside and your own comfort preference. Whatever kind of mattress you’re looking for, City Mattress has it! Just the same, there are many types of beds too. Your bed itself is incredibly important!

Your bed is the focal point of your bedroom. You know you need your bed to be the right size, comfortable and supportive, of course, but you always want to like the look of it! If you’re looking to revamp your current bedroom, ensure your mattress is as supported as possible, clear away some clutter from the floor, or are curious about different types of bed options, we encourage you to read on. A few of the most popular options for beds include:

Panel Bed

A panel bed is any bed frame with a headboard, a base, and two side panels. In other words, a panel bed is a bed with a four-wall frame. Often, they have wooden slats connecting the two side pieces. Because of this sturdy structure, panel beds can hold heavy box springs and thick mattresses better than a traditional bed base alone. This makes them unrivaled when it comes to sturdiness and support. The slatted panels of wood boards do more than simply hold up the foundation. They also increase breathability under the mattress foundation, thereby extending the life of both the mattress and foundation. They’re also great for hiding an adjustable bed base if you want the comfort and convenience of an adjustable foundation, without the look. We have several panel beds options for you to choose from. A few of our favorites include the Palmetto Home Woven Banana Leaf Low Profile Bed, the ALF Italia Novecento Lacquered Silverwood Platform Bed, and the Sea Winds Trading Islamorada Bed.

Platform Bed

Another fantastic option is a platform bed. A platform bed is a simple, low-raised bed frame with a slatted wood, solid wood, or metal surface. A platform bed is a type of bed frame that supports your mattress without the need for a box spring. Unlike traditional bed frames, platform beds are closer to the ground, and typically lift your bed about 12 inches off the ground. If you like the look of a sleek, low-profile bed or if you have a really tall mattress, this could be the right option for you. Right now, our favorite platform bed option is the Klaussner Transit Platform Bed.

Metal Bed and Headboard

Choosing the right headboard is next. If you’re short on square footage in your bedroom, you probably don’t want your bed taking up too much room. In a small room, you simply don’t have the space for something big and bulky. This will overwhelm the space. Instead, opt for a bed with a lither silhouette. Many people in your position decide on a metal headboard and bedframe if they have a small bedroom. Unlike platform beds and panel beds, these options take up very little space. Plus, they look great! In fact, they’re so good looking that people who enjoy a vintage style may opt for something like the Wesley Allen Sunset Headboard or the Hillsdale Kiran Bed even if they have plenty of square footage at their disposal!

Upholstered Headboard and Bed

Upholstered headboards are huge right now! A quick glance at our headboard options will show you just how many choices you have. As they become more and more in style, all of the top name brands have added them to their offerings. The Malouf Lenox Tufted Upholstered Headboard and Malouf Britain Channel Upholstered Headboard are two of our top favorites right now. You can even buy an entire upholstered bed! The Parker House Avery Upholstered Panel Bed has just the look you want.

Wood Bed

Some things never go out of style! There’s just something so calming and relaxing about a classic wooden bed. Vaughan Basset is well-known for genuine wood furniture that is made to last. Whether you go with the Vaughan Bassett Bonanza Mansion White Wood Panel Low Profile Bed or Vaughan Basset Sawmill Arch Bed, you’re sure to have a bed you love for many years to come.

Storage Bed

A bed with under-bed storage is great for people who have a small room, don’t want a lot of stuff out, or who simply like a clean room. With a bed like the Malouf Waterford Upholstered Platform Storage Bed, you can store an extra blanket, pillows, books, and anything else in one of the two sturdy drawers. It’s beautiful and practical!

We want you to love the bed you sleep in! That’s why we offer you so many different options, so there is something for everyone. Do you see an item on the list that jumps out at you?
