Mattress

It all starts with your mattress, so you should start with a great mattress! You need to purchase a new mattress when you no longer sleep comfortably or about once every eight to ten years, whichever comes first. You want to find and purchase the best mattress for you: one that is within your price range, provides excellent support, is made from materials you prefer, keeps your spine aligned properly, and is made to your comfort level. Foundation

Your foundation, or box spring, is the next step in creating an ideal sleep system. The purpose of the box spring is actually threefold: to raise the mattress's height, making it easier to climb in and out of bed, to absorb shock and reduce wear to the mattress, and to create a flat and firm structure for the mattress to lie upon. Your foundation can do a lot more than this, especially if you get the right one. We also sell adjustable bed bases that raise your upper body and legs, separately, to your ideal angle. For many, raising the upper body is a great way to reduce snoring or raising the lower legs helps with restless leg syndrome. Of course, there are people who prefer an adjustable bed base simply to make it easier to watch television or enjoy a gentle massage!

Mattress pad

A mattress pad is a thick piece of quilted material that sits on top of your mattress, below your sheets. A mattress pad can help to protect your mattress from normal wear and tear, as well as make your bed more comfortable. You can purchase a firm pillow, a soft pillow, a medium pillow, and everything in between. The rule of thumb is to replace your pillow every one to two years.

Sheets and other bedding

You may not realize just how much your sheets impact on your sleep. If you're sleeping on the wrong material or kind of sheet, you can disrupt your natural sleep cycle, and end up either way too hot and just generally be uncomfortable. Quality is extremely important! Egyptian cotton is the best material for comfort, durability, and breathability. Polyester linens are less expensive but not as durable and will trap heat. Consider the thread count but know that it is not all that matters. Good sheets range anywhere from 200 to 800. It’s also important to note that for some sleepers, higher thread counts may actually be uncomfortable. Higher numbers indicate that the threads are tightly woven together and could cause you to sweat more if you are going through menopause or get hot when you sleep for another reason. If you worry that this will be the case, you’ll want to stick with around 400. Beyond sheets, get the right quilt, comforter, duvet, and pillowcases that help you relax and sleep through the night.
